Second, when it was claimed that the Spider-Marriage made it 'hard' to write stories by someone whose name I forget, they were making a poor excuse. Marriage can be made to work in comics, Reed and Sue being the prime example, and it worked with Peter and MJ. If that was the real reason, I'm disappointed. If not, what was it?

Did time suddenly rewind to 2007 again or something?

Were you honestly expecting us them to forget?

I honestly expect you to be able to get over it, and move on with your life. OMD did not sit well with me. I dropped the 616 Spider-Man books afterwards. That seemed enough for me.

Marvel has said what they are going to say on the subject. Asking these questions today comes off as an unhealthy obsession, trying to ring water out of a rock.

Let it go, and focus on things you like.

Well it’s hard to get over it when Spider-Man has been my favorite comic book since forever. What they did there ruined almost 20 years worth of reading for me. For some of us these are characters we grew up with and for them to just shit all over them with a story. How would you feel if they all of a sudden decided to radically change Cyclops and it ruined the character for you? Would you just “get over it” or would you still be pissed off 7 years later?

I would realize it was time to get off the ride, just like I did with Spider-Man. These characters are supposed to go on forever, and I am not always going to agree with the way they execute immortality, keeping the character in a place consumers will always recognize them. I don’t own the character.

I would probably bitch about it for a couple of months, and then move on. Nothing lasts forever, and twenty years is a long run. I am glad you got that time with him. Most dudes I know did not get half as much with their dads. Most romantic relationships fall well short. We pick up the pieces and move on from those.

I have a well documented history on the Bendis board, stating this was my least favorite of Joe Quesada’s decisions as EIC of Marvel. At no time do I think he did it trying to screw up the character. It came down to radically different viewpoints. And while OMD may have left you and I cold, the consumers response to the new status quo indicates we are in the minority.

Why let that shit burn inside of you for 7 years? Those were 7 years you could instead have been focusing on all sorts of new, cool ideas that catch your eye. Why lose yourself like that in a character whose life will never truly move forward anyways? There is all this awesome stuff in the world that I will never have the time to find out about, let alone immerse myself in.

By all means, enjoy it while it works for you, but then go find something else that does.
